Port of Halifax: Hamburg Port Authority and Halifax Port Authority conclude MoU to strengthen maritime innovation

Port of Halifax

Joint Open Innovation Platform and stronger collaboration on maritime innovation

Strong partnerships and the open exchange of information and ideas are important factors in developing efficient, sustainable, and secure global supply chains. Cooperation between ports in the field of maritime innovations is critical. From the basic idea and vision, the objectives of The PIER (Halifax) and homePORT (Hamburg) are very similar. Given the similarities between their respective innovation ecosystems, both organizations are committed to strengthening and aligning collaboration to create added value. Digital collaboration in the innovation sector will be solidified and broadened through this partnership. The PIER and homeport have created a joint maritime innovation network platform as an “Open Innovation Platform” and will exchange best practices, solutions, and challenges.

The two Port Authorities, on behalf of their respective Chief Executives, Jens Meier, CEO of the Hamburg Port Authority and Captain Allan Gray, President & CEO of the Halifax Port Authority, officially signed a MoU during the GreenTech for Ports and Terminals Conference 2023 on February 21, 2023.

Jens Meier (CEO of Hamburg Port Authority) and Captain Allan Gray, President & CEO of Halifax Port Authority, sign a MoU to strengthen cooperation on maritime innovation.

We look forward to a fruitful exchange in the form of a joint open innovation platform of our two digital communities. Corresponding formats and service modules are to be developed in the coming weeks and months and then tested together with the community of homePORT Hamburg and The PIER.
